Installation of Cat5e Matrix Switch Products
For cable runs of upto 50m, Cat5e will comfortably transmit 1080p HD picture & sound.
For runs in excess of 50m we would recommend the use of Cat6 with a comfortable range of 65m
If cabling from scratch our switches ideally require 2 x Cat5e/6 cables to each display from the matrix switch location. It is not unusual to run addition cables for future use. Sometimes, Coax is required at screen locations as well.
The system can be set-up to run on established networks where you perhaps only have 1 available Cat5e cable at each display. You will still achieve the required 1080p with all HDCP decoding, but you will not have use of the IR call back/pass thru facility on the switch, although in some instances this is not a problem when using another multiroom product with IR transmit & receive facilities.
The matrix switch requires each screen to be fitted with a small display adaptor which can be easily hidden behind the screen. This small unit requires power via a small plug in 5V adaptor which is supplied.
Ensure sufficient feeds from your satellite dish to the location of HD receivers & matrix switch and put some thought into running extra cables in case you want to add additional satellite receivers at a later date.
We would also recommend the provision of a BT/telephone socket in the central AV area where your HD receivers and matrix will be housed.
Please use our our "Spec your own system" section when requiring single Cat5e outputs or inputs other than HDMI. Our sales team will be happy to prepare quotation.
